PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Salt Contractors is seeking a qualified Millwright to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.

 

The role is suited to a safety-conscious professional who can help ensure reliable, efficient plant operations and respond effectively to mechanical breakdowns.

  • Industrial mechanical maintenance and fault-finding
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors and rotating equipment
  • Bearing, seal, shaft, coupling, chain, belt and gear replacement
  • Precision and laser alignment
  • Welding, fabrication and machining repairs
  • Equipment inspections and condition monitoring
  • Root-cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance documentation
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Good communication and teamwork
  • Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards
  • Qualified Trade Test as a Millwright
  • Relevant industrial plant maintenance experience
  • Experience installing, repairing and overhauling industrial machinery
  • Experience with planned and preventative maintenance
  • Ability to work safely with lifting equipment, cranes, hoists and rigging
  • Sasol experience will be advantageous

DOUBLE CODED WELDER

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Salt Contractors is seeking a highly skilled Double Coded Welder with proven experience in the petrochemical industry.

 

The successful candidate will perform high-quality welding on piping, pressure vessels, tanks and structural components while meeting strict safety, quality and industry standards.

  • Proficient in two qualified welding processes, such as SMAW and GTAW/TIG
  • Welding of carbon steel, stainless steel and alloys
  • Ability to interpret engineering and isometric drawings
  • Understanding of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Joint cleaning, bevel preparation and fit-up
  • Welding repairs, modifications and new installations
  • Experience with piping, heat exchangers, reactors and storage tanks
  • Knowledge of ASME Section IX and API 1104 standards
  • Strong focus on weld quality, safety and productivity
  • Safe use and maintenance of welding equipment, tools and consumables
  • Knowledge of LOTO, confined-space entry and hot-work procedures
  • Ability to work safely in hazardous and potentially explosive environments
  • Valid and verifiable double-coding or dual-process welding qualifications

  • Certification in two welding processes, such as SMAW and GTAW/TIG

  • Minimum of five years’ welding experience

  • At least three years’ experience in a petrochemical, oil and gas, or refinery environment

  • Current relevant safety certifications

  • H₂S Awareness and Confined Space certification will be required where applicable

  • Physically fit and able to work in demanding industrial conditions
